Jenny Herold
Orthodontist
Jenny graduated in Dentistry from the University of Bristol in 1978. Following a short time in general dental practice she returned to a hospital as an SHO in Oral Surgery in Swansea. She then moved to London in 1981 firstly as an SHO in Oral Surgery and Paedordontics at St Georges’s Hospital, then as a Registrar in Paedordontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital. She gained her FDS RCPS in 1983 and took up a place on the Orthodontic Postgraduate Course at the Eastman gaining a Dorth and MSc. As a Senior Registrar at St George’s and Kings she obtained her M.Orth. For a short period she moved to Belfast and completed her training before taking up her consultant post at Eastbourne District General Hospital in early 1995.
Jenny is married to a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon and she has two young girls rapidly approaching their teens.
Her area of special expertise is Orthodontics, in particular working with other specialists on multi-disciplinary cases.
When not acting as a chauffeur to her children Jenny’s interests include sport, music and wine.
Oliver Bowyer
BDS, MSc, MFDS, MOrth RCS (Eng)
Qualified as a dentist after completing the five year degree course at Bristol University in 2002. Most notably winning a research prize for his work in the management of head and neck cancer patients.
Mr Bowyer gained his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons following surgical training at both the Royal Surrey (Guildford) and Royal Sussex (Brighton) County Hospitals. He followed this with a year working with special needs patients in the Community Dental service in Auckland, New Zealand.
He subsequently undertook specialist training in orthodontics at Brighton and Guy’s Hospitals in London, being awarded both a distinction and the coveted Philip Walther prize for the highest marks in the Master of Science in Orthodontics examination. Mr Bowyer has since been awarded the Membership in Orthodontics by the Royal College of Surgeons and registered by the General Dental Council (number 80823) as a Specialist in Orthodontics.
He currently works at the internationally acclaimed Eastman Dental Institute in London as part of the multidisciplinary team in the management of complex patient care. He is actively involved in the training of postgraduate Orthodontists and has contributed to national and international conferences.
Mr Bowyer is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the European Orthodontic Society.
Outside of Orthodontics he is a keen hockey player, an ever less adventurous skier and a virtually uncoachable golfer. He has also recently run the London Marathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation and cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats for a children’s hospice.
