Trevor Grout

BDS (Guys) 1989

Trevor qualified from Guys Hospital Dental School, London in 1989. He then undertook an optional 1-year extra training based at Brighton General Hospital. Following this he came to West Terrace in 1991 and has been a partner since 1997. Trevor has recently completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme based at the University of Brighton.

He was born and educated in Eastbourne and enjoys practising in his home town. Within general practice, he is especially interested in minimally invasive dental procedures and endodontics (root fillings). He also enjoys making dentures and caring for nervous patients. He is able to make domiciliary visits for the housebound.

Trevor is married to Sara with two children; a daughter and a son. They enjoy walking and cycling, having completed several long distance pathways including Wainwright’s coast to coast as well as cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats!

Les Bennett

Les graduated from Kings College Hospital London in 1970. He also is a Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. After spending 10 years working in London including sessions at the Mayday Hospital, he took over the existing practice in Eastbourne in 1980. Over the last 25 years extensive expansion, refurbishment and re-equipment of these premises have been carried out.

Professionally he enjoys cosmetic dentistry and the application of modern ceramic, adhesive filling materials. Facial aesthetics is also an area of special interest, and he has attended many seminars and advanced training sessions in the use of cosmetic injectables such as Botox and Fillers. He has recently become a Gold Member of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics.

Les is married with 2 grown-up sons and lives a few miles outside Eastbourne. He enjoys the theatre and is a member of the Glyndebourne Operatic Society. He also likes reading, listening to music and walking on the South Downs. He tries to keep fit by going to the gym but is far happier leaving the place than arriving!

Andrew Trowhill

Andrew has lived in Eastbourne and been at West Terrace Dental Practice since 1999 having moved from Bristol where he gained his dental degree.

He is married to Amanda, another dentist who grew up in Eastbourne and they have two young children, Bronwen and Alice.

Since qualifying in 1999 Andrew has worked in general dental practice and is a member of the society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) and the International Federation of Dental Anaesthesiology Society (IFDAS).

Toby Edwards-Lunn

Toby joined the practice in 2005 but had been working in Sussex for the previous five years. He moved to Brighton from London after graduating from Guy’s Hospital and still lives there, commuting over to Eastbourne. He has gained experience in both general practice and oral surgery. He has held positions in the Maxillofacial departments in Brighton and in the District General Hospital here in Eastbourne.

The area of particular interest to Toby is endodontics and he hopes in the near future to undertake a Masters course in this speciality. With a view to this, over the last two years he has been studying for, and has recently been awarded, the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Out of the practice Toby enjoys playing rugby for Lewes RFC and tries to play golf! When conditions and time allows he can also be found attempting to ride his surfboard both in Brighton and in the West Country.

Ana Vilas-Boas Sousa Surwald

Ana graduated as a dentist in Portugal in 2002. In 2003 she got a Diploma in Oral Rehabilitation and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics from the University of Barcelona and went on to do a postgraduate master degree in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in 2005.

Ana moved to the UK in 2006 and in the same year got married to Christian, a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at Eastbourne Hospital.

Ana loves the sunshine and she is always ready to visit new countries and cultures. If the weather does not allow her going for a walk or run, she can be found in the gym doing a revitalizing class of body-attack or combat.

Ana speaks fluently in Portuguese, English and Spanish. At the moment she is learning German.
