I was drawn into the area of facial aesthetics in the early 90′s and my first training course in 1993 was to learn how to use the first facial filler material called Zyplast. This was basically a bovine (cow) collagen used to lift out deep lines – initially small test injections had to be given in the arm 6 weeks before treatment to ensure no sensitivity problems occurred.
However, some years later, the new wave of filler materials had evolved, involving laboratory synthesised ‘Nasha’ products from Q-Med: these are made of ‘Hyaluronic Acid’, a naturally occurring substance in the body and – as they are laboratory made – do not have any animal content. This means they are extremely safe to use and reactions to the material are almost unknown.
At about this time Botox® arrived in the UK! Although it was already widely used in America and had an excellent safety record.
Over several years I attended courses on both the Q-Med and Juvéderm® range of fillers and also the application of Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) for cosmetic use. I have undergone advanced training in all these materials and I am a Gold Member of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics (IAAFA).
Recently, I have become involved with the Obagi® range of skin care products, having been extremely impressed with the results I have seen in skin quality and appearance after using these products.
This year I am attending courses / seminars with the International Institute for Anti-Ageing on the latest skin treatments and the IAAFA 2011 two day course on recent developments including the latest clinical techniques, plus further involvement with the Obagi® range of pharmaceuticals.
If you are interested in possible treatment with Botox® or Fillers, or the Obagi® system of skin care, please contact reception for a consultation.
